Manually provisioning Grandstream GXP EOL IP phones
Important
These Grandstream GXP phones are end of life (EOL) and cannot be provisioned securely via 3CX. You can still use these phones, but they must be manually configured. Keep in mind:
- You cannot re-provision or reboot the phone remotely
- You cannot upgrade the firmware
- Be sure to use the suggested AUTH ID and password by 3CX as these passwords are very secure.
Step 1: Setup the Grandstream phone in 3CX
- Go to the Users tab in the Admin Console
- Go to the “User” for which you want to add the phone.
- Go to the “IP Phone” tab. Click “Configure a phone” to add a phone.
- Select Generic IP Phone
- Select “Normal Phone” and enable the option to “Configure your phone manually without provisioning”
- A pop-up window will appear with the Authentication ID and Password. Depending on your installation you will also see:
- If on the local network: The 3CX Phone System FQDN and Port number
- If in the cloud: The SBC or Router phone’s IP address and Port number.
Step 2: Factory Reset the Grandstream IP Phone
Before provisioning the IP phone, the phone must be brought back to factory defaults, in case the device has residual settings of a previous configuration. To reset the device follow this blog post on how to factory reset Grandstream ip phones.
Step 3: Login to the Grandstream Admin Interface
Now you need to login to the phone's web interface. If the phone was previously provisioned via 3CX, then you can go to the phone's web interface from the Management Console. Use the username and password configured in the Management Console. If they we’re not, you will have to obtain the IP via the phone interface and use that.
Step 4: Enter the SIP credentials
Navigate to the Accounts > Account 1 > General Settings and enter the following values:
- “Account Name” and “Name”: Enter your user’s name
- “SIP Server”: Enter “Registrar Hostname or IP”
- “Outbound Proxy”: Enter the “Outbound Proxy (SBC) Address” and the associated Port
- “SIP User ID”: Enter the extension number
- “Authenticate ID”: Enter the “Authentication ID”
- “Authenticate Password”: Enter the “Password”
- Save and Apply the changes.
