About Grandstream GDS37 Door Phones / Intercoms
The Grandstream GDS37 series is designed specifically for Facility Access Systems. These models offer a complete solution for access control, video/audio intercom, and security needs to any physical building.
- GDS3710: The GDS3710 is an IP Video Door System that provides facility access management and security monitoring for buildings of various sizes. It also functions as a high-definition IP surveillance camera and IP intercom. It features a built-in RFID chip reader for secure keyless entry, a built-in microphone and speaker to support intercom functionality, a 180-degree video viewing angle for wall-to-wall coverage and more. Costs starts in the region of $449.
- GDS3705: The GDS3705 is an audio-only facility access and security monitoring device that can be used in a variety of settings. This audio door system comprises a built-in RFID chip reader and keypad for secure keyless or key access, dual microphones, an HD loudspeaker with superior AEC to provide intercom capabilities, and support for SIP calls to IP phones. Costs in the region of $329.
Step 1: Identify your exact Grandstream GDS door phone model and MAC address
Be sure you follow the steps for the right phone model. You can find the model and the MAC address on the label at the back of the phone. Take a note of the MAC address, you will need this for the configuration.
Step 2: Factory Reset the Grandstream IP Door Phone
Software Reset
If you access the Web UI of your GDS device, you can reset it to Factory Default settings as follows:
- Log into the Web UI by entering the IP of the device into your browser.
- Enter the credentials of the device (default username is "admin" and the unique password came on the device as a sticker from the factory)
- Navigate to “Maintenance” → “Reboot & Reset”
- In the Reset drop-down, select “Clear All Data” and press the Reset button
- Once the device reboots, it will be in a Factory Default state.
Hardware Reset
If you cannot access the Web UI of the device and you need to reset it to Factory Defaults, then you can do the following:
- Locate the Wiegand cable that was shipped with your device. You will need the included Wiegand cable that came with your doorphone, as there is no reset button inside the device.
- Power OFF the doorphone.
- Connect the coloured wires of the Wiegand cable as follows:
- WHITE and BROWN cable together
- GREEN and ORANGE cable together
- All other cables should be left unconnected
- Insulate all cables to avoid a short circuit.
- Connect the Weigand cable to the back of the device and power it ON.
- Once the LED lighting starts blinking, enter the following key combination: ‘*’ ‘0’ ‘#’
- If the correct key sequence is entered, a long tone will be played.
- Wait 4-5 minutes for the Factory Reset process to complete.
- Power OFF the device again and remove the Weigand cable.
- Power ON the device again.
- To check if the process was successful, attempt to log into the Web UI of the device using the default username “admin”. The default password is located on a sticker on the back of the device.
Note: If during Step #6 the wrong sequence is entered, you will hear 3 short beep sounds, signifying an error in the process
Step 3: Login to the Admin Console
- Login to your 3CX Web Client and go to “Admin”.
- Select the “User” for which you want to add a phone and go to the “IP Phone” tab.
- Click “Configure a phone”.
Step 4: Provision your Grandstream GDS DoorPhone / Intercom
You need to know if 3CX is in the cloud or not. If you have 3CX hosted by 3CX or you have 3CX FREE or 3CX SMB, then your 3CX is in the cloud.
3CX is in the cloud
You will need to have at least one router phone on your network or an SBC configured. See a list of router phones here or follow this guide on How to install an SBC.
- Choose your Grandstream door phone device from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the phone’s MAC address without dashes or colons, and click “Add phone”.
- Specify your SBC or router phone.
- Connect the phone to the network within 14 days.
- If it is already connected, restart it.
- The phone will be configured automatically.
3CX is on premise
- Select where your phone will be located.
- Outside the office (Remote)
- In the office (Local)
- Choose your Grandstream door phone device from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the phone’s MAC address without dashes or colons, and click “Add phone”.
- If you selected “Outside the office” specify the router phone or SBC.
- Connect the phone to the network within 14 days. If it is already connected, restart it.
- The phone will be configured automatically.
