Configuring a Wavix SIP Trunk
Step 1: Sign-Up and Trunk Creation
- Sign up to the Wavix website. Wait for approval from Wavix before proceeding to the next steps.
- Navigate to “Numbers & Trunks” in the top menu and select “Buy” from the dropdown.
- Select the desired country and choose your number(s).
- Navigate to “Numbers and Trunks” and select “Trunks” from the menu.
- Click “Create New” on the top right.
- Select “Digest” to set a password for your trunk.
- Now choose a DID from the drop down box to act as the Caller ID or select “Passthrough” to set your Caller ID from 3CX.
- Click the “Create” button at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Link trunks to DID
- Navigate to “Numbers & trunks” in the top menu.
- Select “My DIDs”.
- Select a number and from the three dot menu on the right select the “Edit DID”.
- Choose your SIP trunk from the drop down menu under “Destination”.
- Click “Add”.
- If you will be configuring SMS with 3CX, make sure the DIDs are SMS capable.
- Make a note of your credentials. You’ll need them to set up your trunk in 3CX.
- Click “Save” to apply changes.
Step 3: SMS-enable your numbers
- Go to “Numbers and Trunk” and select “My DIDs”.
- Click on the down arrow next to your number and select “Activate”.
- The activation can take up to 24 hours.
- This option is available ONLY for US & Canadian customers. Mobile numbers from other countries support inbound SMS by default. You will need to contact Wavix to enable the SMS.
Step 4: Set up outbound SMS
To create a Sender ID:
- Go to "SMS" in the top menu and select "Sender IDs" from the dropdown.
- Click “Create New” and select the Sender ID type, i.e. Alphanumeric or Numeric.
- Select the country you will send SMS to and press “Confirm”.
- Alphanumeric Sender IDs are not supported in the US and Canada. In many other countries, they require pre-registration by local regulators.
- Numeric Sender ID is a string of digits associated with one of the SMS-enabled numbers on your account. If you don't see any of your numbers in the Sender ID dropdown list, ensure that your Sender IDs have SMS capabilities.
- To use your DID as Sender ID, you need to activate the number for inbound SMS.
- In some countries, Sender ID registration may require additional paperwork. For details, hover on “i” next to the country name.
Step 5: Configuring your SIP Trunk with 3CX
- Go to the 3CX Web client and follow the guide on how to configure a SIP trunk.
- Enter the main trunk number in E164 format. For example if your number is (888)-233-5678, it should be entered as +18882335678
