Configuring a Voxtelesys SIP Trunk
Step 1: Sign up and create your SIP Trunk
- Sign up to the Voxtelesys website.
- On the “Configure Services” screen, select “3CX''.
- Find the SIP trunk authentication details under “SIP Registrations”.
- Your credentials should be listed under “3cx.pstn.voxtelesys.net”.
Step 2: Configuring your SIP Trunk with 3CX
- Go to the 3CX Web client and follow the guide on how to configure a SIP trunk.
- Enter the main trunk number and DIDs in the E164 number format, for example if your number is (888)-233-5678, it should be entered as +18882335678
Step 3: Optional: Configure SMS/Texting
If you wish to sms or text via your SIP trunk, then you must configure a number for SMS
- Login to Voxtelesys portal.
- From the left sidebar select “API > Messaging Application” and click on “Create Application”.
- Fill in the form as required and click “Save”:
- Profile Name: Enter the name of the application profile, e.g. “3CX”
- HTTP Method: POST
- Events: Both
- MO Webhook: Webhook URL from 3CX
- DR Webhook: Webhook URL from 3CX
- DR Type - Per recipient
- Authentication - None
- Now Go to “API > Keys” > Create Key”.
- On the form check on the ‘Enable” option, enter a name for the key, and select the “Trunk Group” which will be assigned to.
- Click “Save” and take note of the newly created key. This is the key that will be used to complete the integration with the 3CX SMS.
Step 4: Configure the SMS number
- Now configure the number. Go to “Phone Numbers > Numbers”.
- Choose the number you want to configure with 3CX and click edit.
- In the form, “Number” and “Trunk Group” are pre-populated, you need to set the following:
- Route Type: Standard routing
- Route Profile: 3CX- Registration
- SMS Enabled
- Service Trunk: the trunk the number is associated with
- Messaging Application: choose the messaging application you created in step 1
Step 5: TLS setup (optional)
Optionally, and only for dedicated instances, you can enable “SRTP”. Contact Voxtelesys so they can also enable it from their end for your trunk. Once done, follow the steps above to go to the “Options” sections and under the section “Advanced > SRTP Mode” enable “Enforced”. Your communication will be completely encrypted.
To enable TLS:
- From the 3CX Web Client go to “Admin > M.Console”.
- Go to the “SIP Trunks” and select your configuration.
- Navigate to the “Options” tab and under the section “Advanced > Transport Protocol” choose “TLS”.
