VoiceHost - UK SIP Trunk Provider

Step 1: Activate your Voicehost SIP trunk

  1. Log in to your VoiceHost portal.

  3. Proceed with purchasing a number and creating your SIP Trunk.

Step 2: Purchase a number

  1. Go to “Telephone Numbers” and add a number by following the wizard
  2. Select and edit your number
  3. Configure the Emergency Service settings and confirm your changes. You need this in order to create a trunk

Step 3: Configure your Voicehost SIP Trunk

  1. Go to your SIP Trunk and follow the trunk creation wizard
  2. Make sure that:
  1. “Caller ID” is set to “Set By Agent”
  2. “Trunk Network Transport” is set to “UDP”
  3. Once completed, go to the “General tab” and take note of the “Username” and “Password”

Step 4: Configuring your SIP Trunk with 3CX

  1. Go to the 3CX Admin Console and follow the guide on how to configure a SIP trunk.
  2. Enter the main trunk number as E164, e.g. +44203567890
  3. You can only present numbers associated with your account as Outbound Caller ID.

Step 5: Optional: Configure TLS

VoiceHost Trunk Details

VoiceHost trunks support SIP over TLS which can be enabled as follows:

  1. Download the necessary root certificate needed for authentication. You can download the certificate from this link. The certificate is in zip form and will need to be extracted.
  2. Navigate to your trunk options and under the General section change the registrar address to “secure.st.voicehost.co.uk”.
  3. Navigate to the Options section and switch the SRTP option to “Enforced”
  4. Switch the Transport Protocol to TLS.
  5. Once you switch to TLS a new field called “TLS Root Certificate” will appear which you will need to use to upload the certificate acquired previously.
  6. Scroll to the top of the page and press OK. You should now see your VoiceHost trunk appear as registered.
  7. If for any reason you need to revert back to UDP all you need to do is to reverse the steps and save the changes.
