Configuring a Nvoip SIP Trunk
Step 1: Sign up to Nvoip and Create your SIP Trunk
- Create an account on Nvoip’s website. You can access their management portal here.
- Go to “Settings”.
- From the dropdown click on “Users”.
- Click on “+New User”.
- After filling out the information required click on “Register”
- First user will be created when you first register.
- You can click on “Edit” to see your authentication ID and password.
- Make sure the caller ID is set to “Others” and the caller ID field is empty. This will enable you to pick the caller ID sent from the 3CX PBX.
Make a note of the username and password. You’ll need them in order to register the trunk to the 3CX PBX.
Step 2: Configuring your SIP Trunk with 3CX
- Go to the 3CX Web client and follow the guide on how to configure a SIP trunk.
- Enter the main trunk number in the international format (e.g. 559553864893)
- To ensure calls are routed correctly in the 3CX PBX you must contact Nvoip and ask them to present the called number / DID to RURI : User Part and To : User Part SIP fields. These are the fields used by the PBX to match the Incoming call to a DID that is assigned to your trunk.
- When configuring your Outbound Rules, you should note that international calls are blocked by default. You can enable them through the Nvoip management portal. When International calls are disabled you can dial numbers in the national number format (e.g. 1123456789) but after you enable international calls numbers must be dialed in the international number format (e.g. 551123456789).
