Step 1: Sign up to create your Flowroute SIP Trunk

  1. Sign up to the Flowroute website. Once you’re logged in to your account start creating your trunk.
  2. Start by buying numbers. You can do so from  “DIDs” / “Purchase”.
  3. Set the routes of your DIDs to “SIP Registration”. See your current routes by navigating to the DIDs tab of your Flowroute portal.
  4. Locate your SIP Registration Details by navigating to  “Interconnection > Registration”.
  5. Multiple Flowroute accounts can be registered on the same 3CX installation. Each Flowroute account must have unique DIDs. If a DID is assigned to multiple Flowroute accounts on the same 3CX installation, incoming calls to that DID will be rejected.
  6. Each Flowroute account can be used only for 1 SMS configuration. Multiple account DID’s can be enabled to receive SMS

Step 2: Configuring your SIP Trunk with 3CX

  1. Go to the 3CX Web client and follow the guide on how to configure a SIP trunk.
  2. Enter the main trunk number and any DIDs in the E164 number format.
  3. Dialing must be in either 11 digit format 17778811960 or full +E164 format +17778811960.

Step 3: Configuring a Number for SMS

Flowroute API Keys

To enable messaging for the number:

  1. Open the Flowroute portal and go to the “DIDS > Manage” section. Select the number you want to use with 3CX.
  2. Click on “Choose a DID Action” and choose “Enable Messaging” under “Messaging Options”.
  3. Next click on “Preferences” and select “API Control” from the top menu.
  4. Enable the “SMS” and “MMS” options.
  5. Paste the 3CX SMS Webhook URL to both fields and press “Save URL/Update URL” on each.
  6. In the API format select “v2.1 -- upgrade”.
  7. In the API Keys section, enter a “Name” to create a new API Key. Click on “Add new”.
  8. Copy the secret key value from the “API Key Created” pop-up. Make sure you save this before closing the window.
  9. From the "API Keys" table copy the “Access Key” of the previously created key.
  10. Go back to the 3CX Management Console/ 3CX Web Client and enter the “Access and Secret Key” in the SMS section.

Important: According to US legislation (A2P 10DLC SMS), SMS numbers must be registered with a wireless carrier to avoid being blocked. This only applies to A2P numbers (Application to People) and not P2P (People to People). Follow this guide to register your phone numbers.
